Patty's Story Patty V. Harris, 86, loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 18, 2016, in Oklahoma City. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Friday, Oct. 21, 2016, at Immanuel Baptist Church with the Rev. Randy Southerland officiating. Burial will follow in the Duncan Cemetery. Services are under the direction of the Don Grantham Funeral Home. The family will receive friends 5-7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Patty was born Sept. 28, 1930, in Duncan to Derrell and Joanna (Hire) Grooms. She married Harold V. "Buddy" Harris on March 1, 1952, and he preceded her in death on Aug. 9, 1989. She worked for a short time for the Southwestern Bell Telephone office here in Duncan. But for the most part, she was a loving and devoted mother and homemaker raising her family. She was a faithful and active member of the Immanuel Baptist Church. Patty is survived by two sons, Harold Wayne Harris of Duncan, Oklahoma and Rusty Harris and wife Jamie of Marlow, Oklahoma; two sisters, Gloria Culp and Nellie Grooms and a sister-in-law Ollene McDaniel, all of Duncan; five grandchildren, Baleigh Harris, Bailor Harris, Heather Edie, Haley Harris, Andrew Aldridge; two great-grandchildren, Payton Edie, Jagger Ferris and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two brothers Tom Grooms and T.D. Grooms and a sister Derreline Land. Pallbearers will be Shorty Brown, Greg Culp, Matt Taylor, Larry Mikel, Scott Dittner and Randall Scott.
