Bio
Funeral services for Alvin J. Blinka, Sr., 85, of Rosenberg, will be held at 10:00 A. M., Wednesday, December 22, 2010 at First Presbyterian Church in Rosenberg with Pastor Rhonda Detenbeck officiating. Interment will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park in Rosenberg. Visitation will be held from 5:00 P. M. until 8:00 P. M., Tuesday, December 21, 2010 at Davis-Greenlawn Funeral Chapel in Rosenberg. Alvin was born July 1, 1925 in Columbus, Texas to John and Rosie Kaspar Blinka. He was raised in Ft. Bend County. He passed away December 19, 2010 at Triumph Hospital in Sugar Land. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, American Legion Post 271, VFW Post 3903 and SPJST Lodge 81. He served in World War II from 1944 to 1946. After his discharge, he worked in the drilling and oil field service industry until he retired in 1988. Alvin is preceded in death by his parents, John and Rosie Blinka; sisters, Evelyn Christ and Rosie Blinka; brothers, Milton and Jerry Blinka; brothers-in-law, Thomas Kuykendall, Sr. and Richard Christ, Sr.; nieces, Cynthia Huggins, Theresa Peikert and Laura Kuykendall. Alvin is survived by his wife of 62 years, Darlene; son, Alvin Blinka, Jr. and wife Elaine; daughter, Shirley Robertson and husband, Gary; grandchildren, Brandon Blinka and wife, Kim, Natalie Wintermeyer and husband, Philip, Aaron Blinka, Clint Jablonski and wife, Sabrina, and Kristy Jablonski; great grandchildren, Julia and Lauren Blinka, Mason Gonzalez, Camber Fitzgerald and baby boy Jablonski due in January 2011; brothers, Johnnie Blinka and wife, Georgie, Sidney Blinka and wife, Mildred; sisters, Willie Mae Kuykendall, Dorothy Kuban and husband, Edward; sister- in-law, Dorothy Blinka; along with numerous other family members and many friends. Pallbearers will include Brandon Blinka, Aaron Blinka, Clint Jablonski, Michael Hebert, Bob Douglas and Karl Ford. The family would like to thank the staff of Triumph Hospital and Oak Bend Hospital.
