Bio

Clarence Everett Goates, 91, passed away Friday, Dec. 31, 2010. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 5, 2011, at Connally/Compton Funeral Directors Chapel with Pastor James Menke officiating. Burial will follow at Rosemound Cemetery. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 4, at the funeral home. Everett was born in Aquilla, Hill County, Texas, to the late William Riley and Molly Elsie (Poteet) Goates. In 1951, he married Rita Hubble in McLennan County. Everett was a watch maker for Morris Jewelers for over 40 years. He loved to fish and spend time with his family. Everett was known for his sense of humor and antics. He was a longtime member of Trinity Lutheran Church. Everett was preceded in death by his loving wife, Rita Goates; son, Jimmy Goates; daughter, Linda Goates; grandson, Joseph Bayer; three brothers; and one sister. Those left behind to cherish Everett's memory are his daughters, Rita Madl and husband, Ed, of Waco, and Donna Johnson and husband, James, of Austin; sons, Don Goates and wife, Susie, of Willow Park, and Richard Goates, of Waco; grandchildren, John Bayer Jr., Robert Bayer, Catherine "Katie" Bayer and husband, Thomas McGuffey, Brian Goates, Christopher Goates, Matthew Goates, Robert "Bobby" Johnson, Aidan Johnson, and Ethan Johnson; sister, Ruth Usrey, of Hillsboro; and many other loving family members and friends.
