Bio
Patty Proskocil, 76, of Ord died Tuesday, Dec. 28, 2010, at the Valley County Health System. Patty was born March 23, 1934, at Ansley to Vern and Mildred (Hollenbeck) Sundstrom. Patty's mother died when she was seven months old. She was raised by various relatives. She lived in Grand Island and graduated from Senior High in 1951. She was united in marriage to Leonard Proskocil Aug. 1, 1953, at St. Paul. Patty became mother to Leonard's twin four year old sons and the couple also had four children together. Survivors are: husband, Leonard Proskocil; sons and daughters-in-law, Larry and Tracey Proskocil, Dennis and Christy Proskocil, Dale and Bev Proskocil, all of Ord, and Gary and Jayne Proskocil of Riverdale; daughters and sons-in-law, Donna and Leon Bresley and Debra and John Potratz, all of Grand Island; brother, Vern Sundstrom of Stockton, Calif.; sisters, Kay Campbell of Council Bluffs, Iowa, and Peggy Salina of Lansing, Kan.; 16 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. Leonard and Patty lived on a farm east of Ord where they raised their family, worked on the farm and were in the restaurant business (Patty's Grill, then New Cafe) for over 15 years. Patty worked at various jobs and retired from the Valley County Hospital where she worked in dietary. Patty enjoyed playing cards, traveling, going to dances, casinos, and stock car races. She was a member of the ZCBJ Lodge, west of Ord. Patty suffered a massive hemorrhagic stroke on Dec. 6, 2010, and was transported to St. Francis Medical Center in Grand Island, then transported to Valley County Health Systems where she continued to receive excellent care until her death. Patty was preceded in death by her mother, Mildred (Hollenbeck) Sundstrom, father, Vern Sundstrom, stepmother, Edna (Hamilton) Sundstrom FAG #31624602, brother, Alan Sundstrom, sister, Gail Parrott and great-granddaughter, Taylor Bresley-Cox.
