ORD - Leonard E. Proskocil, 93, of Ord passed away Monday, Aug. 23, 2021, at the Arbor Care Center in Ord due to cancer. Funeral Services will be at 10:30 a.m. on Friday at the Ord First United Methodist Church. Pastor Spenser Johnson will officiate. Burial will be in the Ord City Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the Ord Memorial Chapel. Memorials are suggested to the Family's Choice. Ord Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements. Leonard Eldon was born Dec. 4, 1927, at Comstock to Anton and Antonia (Vacek) Proskocil. He was raised in the Comstock and Sargent areas where he received his education and graduated from Sargent High School. Following school, Leonard farmed with his dad at Comstock. On Aug. 18, 1948, he married Alma Mae Sich at Ord. The couple made their home on the farm in the Sprindale area of Valley County, east of Ord. To this union twin sons were born, Larry and Gary. Alma passed away from Polio in 1952. On Aug. 1, 1953, Leonard married Patty E. Sundstrom at St. Paul. This couple added four children to their family, Dennis, Dale, Donna and Debra. Leonard spent his entire adult life on the home place in Springdale area doing what he loved, farming and ranching. He will be remembered as a good neighbor. He was a member of the ZCBJ Lodge and had served as the President of the Springdale District 6 School Board. He was an avid Golden Gloves boxing fan, following his sons all over the state, and attending Districts in Omaha for many years. Leonard spent his free time at stock car races, horse races, playing pitch, hunting and fishing. He enjoyed family get-togethers, his dachshunds and going to dances. Survivors include four sons and three daughters-in-law, Larry and Tracey Proskocil, Gary Proskocil, Dennis and Christy Proskocil, and Dale and Bev Proskocil; two daughters and a son-in-law, Donna Bresley, and Debra and John Potratz; 16 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; his special friend, Lucille Bruha; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; two wives, Alma and Patty; a son-in-law, Leon Bresley; a great-granddaughter, Taylor Bresley-Cox; an infant brother, Anton; a brother and sister-in-law, Jim and Evelyn Proskocil; and five sisters and brothers-in-law, Jeannie and Earl Pierce, Emily and Joe Sinkule, Lillian and Ben Tvrdik, Mary and Frank Cerny, Dorothy and Everett Horkey and Stan Key.
