Bio

Grand Island (Nebraska) Independent June 1982 Vern Sundstrom, 75, a former Grand Island resident, died Sunday at Council Bluffs, Iowa, where he had lived for the past six months. Services will be Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. in the chapel of the Livingston-Sondermann Funeral Home with the Rev. Dan Safarik officiating. Interment will be in Westlawn Cemetery. There will be no visitation. Mr. Sundstrom was born May 25, 1907, at Rockville to Charles and Eva Carpenter Sundstrom. He had been married to Edna Hamilton. He had been a field representative for Fairmont Food and later was a fieldman for Mid-America Dairyman Association. He lived in North Platte from 1956 until his retirement in 1973 when he returned to Grand Island. He was a member of the Methodist faith. Survivors include his widow; two sons, Vern of Holt, Calif. and Alan of North Platte; four daughters, Mrs. Leonard (Patty) Proskocil of Ord, Mrs. Richard (Kay) Esancy and Mrs. Harold (Gail) Parrott, both of Council Bluffs and Mrs. Ismael (Peggy) Salinas of El Reno, Okla.; 14 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren and one niece.
