OBITUARY: Pattonsburg; Mort Ewing Succumbs; Ebel Mort Ewing of McFall, passed away Monday at 3:30 p.m. at Bethany, MO hospital. Mr. Ewing had been in ill health for several weeks. His wife preceded him in death on 4 Jun 1951. Mr. and Mrs. Ewing resided in Pattonsburg for sometime before moving to McFall. He is survived by four daughters, Mrs. Tessora Rossette, Odgen, UT, Mrs. Eulala Page, Melbourne, FL, Mrs. Lorraine Toliver, Billings, MT, and Mrs. Eloise Garland, Elizabeth, CO, also 4 grandchildren. Funeral Friday Quest Funeral Home, Rev. Kenneth Parks of Covington, KY will conduct services. Burial in the IOOF Cemetery. A.M. or Mort Ewing, eldest son of B.F. and Elizabeth Akes Ewing was born 4 Oct 1869 near New Castle, Gentry, MO and departed this life 6 Aug 1951 at Bethany, MO. he was married to Emma L. Britton 4 May 1899 near McFall. To this union 4 daughters, Tessora, Lorraine, Eloise and Eulalia. The greater part of his life was spent in and around Pattonsburg except for a few years in Kansas and when he homesteaded near Hugo, CO. As a young man he was engaged in business of harness making, later in farming. He was reared in a Methodist family and was baptized in the church in infancy, the doctrines stayed with him throughout his life. Some of the early remembrances of his children were when he accompanied them to Sunday School and Church in CO. He took an active part helping with the music, for which he was well qualified. He was the last of his immediate family, as his sisters, brothers, mother and father had preceded him in death. His companion for over 50 years preceded him in death just 2 months prior to his passing. He leaves to mourn his passing his four children and their families Mr. and Mrs. Leslie Rosette and daughter Billie Jean of Odgen, UT, Mr. and Mrs. W.J. Garland, Marilyn and James Ewing Garland, of Elizabeth, CO., Mr. and Mrs. Earl J. Toliver, Billings, MT, Mr. and Mrs. D.W. Page, Melbourne, FL, and son Cpl. Leslie Dean Kincade of the armed forces in Japan. Pallbearers F.E. Havens, Maurice Hibbs, Joseph Talley, C.R. Hibbs, Guy Bullock, and Lester W. McCulley. Betty Lee Burton and Ethel Willis sang The Old Rugged Cross and Abide With Me. Rev. Kenneth C. Parks of Covington, KY conducted the services.
