Bio

Syble St. John, 93, of Ellensburg, died Sunday, October 14, 1990, at Gold Leaf Care Center following an extended illness. She was born on April 17, 1897 in Sourgoinsville, Tennessee, a daughter of Neil and Margaret Watterson. She first married O. J. Allen, and they spent their first years in Wyoming, moving to the Kittitas Valley in 1923. She and Chet St. John were married in 1946 and operated a farm off the Old Vantage Highway until their retirement in 1965. After her husband Chet's death in 1980, she lived on Fifth Avenue in Ellensburg. She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Jimmy and Barry Johnson of Ellensburg, and Pegge and Frank Richards of Redmond; two sons, L. D. Allen of Augusta, Georgia, and Jack Allen of Ellensburg; 10 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, and two great great grandchildren; and a brother, Hall Watterson of Ellensburg. In addition to her husbands, she was preceded in death by a son, Frank, Allen, and a daughter, Alpha Rosetti. Services will be at 1 p.m., Wednesday at Cotton-Steward-Williams Chapel. Entombment will follow at the IOOF Mausoleum. The family suggests memorials to Kittitas County Home Health, in care of St. Elizabeth's Medical Center, 100 S. Ninth Ave., Yakima 98902.
