Bio

Melvin was the son of Hiram Oscar and Lucy Ann Congleton Main. His parents are buried in Fields Chapel Cemetery. He was a veteran of World War II and the Korean War. After he retired following 20 years of military service, He was a security guard at U.T. Southwest Medical School. He received five Battle Stars and a bronze Star. He shares a stone with his wife, Annette Marie Main. He died at his home in Palestine. He was survived by his wife of Palestine; and seven sisters, Irene Lasiter, Edith Lasiter, Virgie Babb, Susie Langston, Daisy Cook Eva Nell Funderburk and Tommie Jean White. His obituary was published in the Palestine Herald-Press.
