Bio

Ira lived in the Platter and Calera, Oklahoma communities for all of his adult life. He lost his battle with colon cancer and died in the hospital in nearby Denison, Texas. Some years later, his wife Stella Mae (Dykes) Dawson passed away in the same hospital and is buried beside him, in Colbert, Oklahoma. Their graves are marked with a double tombstone. Ira was very musically inclined, and could play many instruments, but his favorite was the guitar. He loved his family and loved to laugh. Forever a tease and a cut-up, you could count on him to have everyone laughing at any family gathering.
