Bio

Buford is buried beside his brother Hubert Dawson. There are a lot of his Russell relatives buried in the same cemetery, including his grandfather, John R. Russell. Buford suffered all of his life with severe asthma, probably the result of his very premature birth. He loved to tell stories and laugh, even knowing it usually made him cough. He was somewhat the 'family historian' because he remembered details, like birthdays, anniversaries, the names of cousins, their spouses, grandparents middle names and birthdays, etc. He remembered the stories "handed down" by his elders and loved to talk about such things. Born near Alvarado, Texas, south of Fort Worth, he lived most of his life in Southeastern Oklahoma. He was a gentle and kind hearted man. Although his health was poor and his world was small, his heart was big and he was loved.
