William Grant Hoyt, 85, died Friday, Jan. 18, 1957 at 9 a.m. at the Johnson Nursing Home. Death was attributed to old age and complications. He had been in poor health for four years and seriously ill the last sixteen months. William Hoyt was born Sept. 15, 1872 at Foat, Iowa. He was united in marriage to Mrs. Daisy Higgins June 30, 1950 at Fredonia. Mr. Hoyt came to Neodesha in 1942. Mrs. Daisy Hoyt survives at the home in rural Neodisha. A sister, Mrs. Clara Brown of Broken Bow, Nebraska and three daughters, Mrs. Rose Rudiger, Clay Center, Neb., Mrs. Chet Navarre, Neodesha, and Mrs. Nona Foster of California also survive. He was preceeded in death by his parents, one daughter, one son and two brothers. Mr. Hoyt was a member of the IOOF lodge at Fairfield, Nebr. He had lived in Nebraska most of his life. He was preceeded in death by his parents, one daughter [Marie Velma Hoyt], one son [James Orville Hoyt] and two brothers [James Walter Hoyt and Elmer Otho Hoyt]. Mr. Hoyt was a member of the IOOF lodge at Fairfield, Nebr. He had lived in Nebraska most of his life. Services were held Monday, January 21 at 2 p.m. at the Wm. Fawcett Funeral Home, Rev. John O. Stewait officiating, Mrs. Blaine White sang "It is God's Day" and "Just Beyond the Shadow Land." Mrs. C. G. Smirl was the accompaniest. Casket bearers were J. A. Linville, John Jackson, Blaine Barnes, Otis Smith, Ralph Savage and Casey Jones. Burial was in Ross cemetery, West of Neodeska. Mr. and Mrs. A. R. James of Independence were among relatives from out of town who attended.
