Karron D. Miller, 68, of Scotia died on Friday, Sept. 3, 2010, at Pine View Good Samaritan Center in Valentine. Karron was born Sept. 20, 1941, at the Lorne Amos family farm southwest of Comstock to Lorne Lee and Leola Helen (Bisher) Amos. Survivors are: her husband of 50 years, Alvin Webster Miller; adopted great-grandson, Alvin Nathaniel Miller, who lives at home in Scotia; son Alvin James and friend Barb Zacher of Watertown, S.D., son Roy Dean and wife Sarah of Lyons, son Ronald Clifford and wife Donna of Guam and Sargent, and son Franklin Lee and wife Dana of Valentine; grandchildren and family members, Alvin Gregory and wife Chelle of Watertown, S.D., Miranda Leigh and fianc' Joey Patek of Aberdeen, S.D., Shane Michael of Watertown, S.D., Alyssa Ann (Miller) Gonzalez of Watertown, S.D., Eric Dean, Heidi Beth, Brent Roy and Layne Augustus of Lyons, Jessica Lynn (Miller) Bickford and husband Phil of Box Elder, S.D., Josephine Anne of Sargent, KayLynn Deloris, Cody Franklin and Casey William of Valentine; five great-grandchildren, Sailor Moon and Violet Sky of Watertown, S.D., Laura Ashaleigh Bickford of Box Elder, S.D., Gabriel Michael Gonzalez of Watertown, S.D., and Daxton Cole Patek of Aberdeen, S.D.; brothers-in-law and family, Allen F. Miller and wife Sandy of Elyria, Patricia Miller of Ord, and Howard G. Miller and wife Linda of Harvard; sister-in-law Delores (Miller) Davis of Tyndall, S.D.; and a host of family and friends. Karron was raised on the family farm in Custer County. She attended the Dry Valley County School through eighth grade, Sargent Public Schools in grades nine through 11, and graduated from Burwell High School in May 1961. On Nov. 4, 1959, she was united in marriage to Alvin Webster Miller in Denver, Colo. To this union, four sons were born, Alvin James, Roy Dean, Ronald Clifford and Franklin Lee. In November 2006, Alvin and Karron adopted their great-grandson, Alvin Nathaniel. In November 2009, they celebrated their 50th Golden Wedding anniversary and renewed their vows of marriage. Alvin and Karron started their married life in Burwell and later moved to Scotia. Karron worked at the Valley County Hospital for 17 years as a Can. She worked in construction for five years as a surveyor's assistant and she later opened an upholstery shop, which she operated for eight years out of their home in Scotia. Karron participated as an in extra in three movies, Sarah Plain and Tall, O Pioneers and My Antonia. All her married life, she was a devoted mother and grandmother. Karron was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church in Scotia, having been confirmed in the Lutheran faith on Dec. 3, 1967, at Zion Lutheran Church in Scotia. Karron previously had been baptized at Christ Methodist Church in Denver, Colo., on Nov. 4, 1959. Her hobbies included camping, hunting, antiques, wood crafts, gardening and genealogy. One of her greatest joys was her family. The grandchildren were frequent visitors at their home, usually all summer, which she enjoyed greatly. She was preceded in death by a beloved grandson, Ronald William Miller in October 2002; her parents, Lorne Lee in September 1984 and Leola Helen Amos in November 1966; brothers LaVern D. Amos in November 1974 and twin Karrol D. Amos in April 1942; father-in-law, Franklin W. Miller in December 1977; mother-in-law, Vava Vera (Fox, Miller) Doty in July 2010; father-in-law, James "Bill" Doty in August 2002; and brothers-in-law, Joseph W. Miller in May 2009 and Stanley R.
