Bio

From "The Republican-Register", Aurora, Nebraska dated Friday, November 14, 1941, Page 1: Hold Last Rites for Jacob Nickolaus The Methodist church at Stockham was filled to capacity Friday afternoon, November 7th, at 2:00 o'clock when friends and relatives gathered from far and near to pay their final respects to Jacob Nickolaus, who passed away at his home Monday afternoon, November 3, at the age of 61 year, 11 months and 26 days, after a heart ailment following several years of ill health. The chancel of the church was filled with a profusion of exquisitely beautiful flowers bearing the silent words of sympathy from loving relatives and friends, and from the church and civic organizations of Stockham. Rev. Ralph Hines officiated at the service. His text was "Let not your heart be troubled." Jacob Nickolaus was born in Farmers Valley precinct on Nov. 7, 1879, and passed away suddenly at the family home Nov. 3, 1941, at the age of 61 years, 11 months, 26 days. He was baptized and confirmed in the Sutton Reformed church and in later years has been an active member in the Methodist church of Stockham. He was united in marriage to Matilda George on Jan. 22, 1903. To this union six children were born: Mrs. James Rollo and Arno of Almont, Mich., Harold of Lampoc, Cal., Emil and Eldon of Stockham and Harlan of Washington, D. C. "Jack," as he called by his many friends was of a sunny disposition and had a kind word for all. He is survived by his wife, the six children, two brothers, four sisters and a host of friends.
