Bio
Johann was born in the Ukrainian town of Rohrbach, South Russia which was settled by German settlers in 1809. The town is now known as Novosvitlivka in Southern Ukraine. Johann arrived with his parents and 2 younger sisters and younger brother on 3 Sep 1873 on the S.S. FRISIA into the Port of New York September 2, 1883. By 1875, the Nicolaus family had made their way to Farmers Valley, Hamilton County, Nebraska. He married Maria "Mary" Blakkolb on 27 Nov 1888 in Sutton, Clay County, Nebraska. They farmed in the Sutton anrea until 1902 when they moved to Boyd County, Nebraska. John continued to farm until year or so before he died in 1930. They moved to Naper, Nance County, Nebraska.
