Bio
Joseph Frank Tabor, Jr. was the only child of Frances Blaha and Joseph Frank Tabor, Sr. He recalled that his parents would buy one steak, feed him first, and then divide up what was left. Joe was born on October 5, 1915 in Waco, McLennan Co, TX. He married Lucille Clyde Gates on October 11, 1941 in Dallas, Dallas Co, TX. They are the parents of Joseph David Tabor (later legally changed to David Gates Tabor), and Susan Tabor. The marriage ended in divorce about 1950. Joe married divorcee Evelyn Alice Stanford Westmoreland on November 26, 1952 in Fort Worth, Tarrant Co, TX. They are the parents of Stephen Paul Tabor and Frances Ann Tabor. Mr. Tabor briefly attended the University of Texas at Austin and received his bachelor's and master's degrees from Texas A&M University. He was a Marine Corps veteran of World War II and the Korean War, attaining the rank of Major. In addition, he was an auditor with the Texas Employment Commission for 21 years, retiring in 1976. Joseph Frank Tabor, Jr., 76, died Sunday, December 29, 1991, at a Fort Worth hospital. He is survived by his wife, Evelyn Tabor, of Burleson, Tarrant Co, TX; two sons, Steve Tabor (Darlene) of Bakersfield, Kern Co, CA, and David Tabor (Karen) of Ashburn, Loudoun Co, VA.; two daughters: Frances Stark (Coy) of Burleson and Susan Courtney (Rob) of Bedford, Tarrant Co, TX; and eight grandchildren: Craig Courtney, Colleen Courtney, Brian Tabor, Eric Tabor, Katherine Tabor, Kyle Tabor, Trina Hayes, and Tim Hayes. Funeral was at 2:00 p.m. Friday January 3 at Grace Lutheran Church, where he was a member. Burial was in Laurel Land Memorial Park (Fort Worth). Greenwood Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
