Bio

David Francis "Davey" Leonard was my gr grandfather. He was born in MO to George Redmon and Nancy (PLUMLEE) LEONARD. His father, G.R. Leonard died of pneumonia during the Civil War and is buried in AR. After his father's death, his mother, Nancy PLUMLEE LEONARD married Isaac Newton Elliott JOHNSON and they lived in AR. Isaac Newton Elliot Johnson raised his stepchildren along with their mother. At the time of his mother, Nancy's, death she was at her daughter Mary Rachel Leonard Mitchell's home in Purdy, MO so is buried there. Davey married Frances Catherine ROGERS December 23, 1877 in Viola (Stone County), MO. Davey owned a livery stable near the town of Prague, OK (Lincoln County). His mother-in-law, Elizabeth Daniels Rogers, is buried between he and his wife, Frances Catherine, in Garden Grove Cemetery. Leonard family Bible of David Francis Leonard and Frances Catherine Rogers Leonard has family record written down with names and dates, Bible given to Jo Anne Neely Gomez by Doyle Loveland (mother was Cora Leonard Loveland) who had been given the family Bible from Audrey Leonard Cleek Jo Anne's great aunt. This Bible shows David Francis Leonard's date of birth as 9 January 1858 Missouri and not the 10th as written elsewhere.
