Married Lela Welcher on August 1927 Dale H. Wood Dies Thursday; Rites Saturday: Dale H. Wood, 68, of Frazer Trailer Court, Newton, a longtime resident of Jasper County, died Thursday afternoon at the Skiff Memorial Hospital. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Toland-Wallace Funeral Home. The Rev. Richard Bentzinger, pastor of the First United Methodist Church, will conduct services. Burial will be in the Newton Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call at the Toland-Wallace Funeral Home after 5 p.m. today. Survivors are his wife Fern; two sons, Donald and Daryl, both of Monroe; a daughter, Mrs. Wayne (Dixie) Russell of Newton; 10 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; a brother, Bert Wood of Monroe; thhree sisters, Mrs. Blanche Broderson of Newton and Mrs. Ivy Dingeman and Mrs. Mabel Sellers, both of Monroe; his mother-in-law, Mrs. Grace Whittlesey of Chariton; and seven step children. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and two sisters. Mr. Wood was a retired contractor. The son of Eli M. and Ida Bell George Wood, he was born June 21, 1907 at Reasnor. He was married to Fern Whittlesey Oswalt in March 1974, in Missouri.
