Bio
Funeral services for E.F. Bryan, 68, oil operator of Amarillo and former Clarendon businessman, were held at the First Baptist Church in Amarillo Monday afternoon with the pastor, Dr. A.D. Foreman, Jr., officiating. Death came Saturday afternoon at the family home in Amarillo. He had been in failing health since 1938. Mr. Bryan was the father of Allen J. Bryan of Clarendon and the brother of Mrs. W.A. Land, Mrs. Buel Sanford and Mrs. Frank Whitlock and Regan Bryan of Clarendon. A native of Texas, Mr. Bryan came to Clarendon about 1900 and for tenty five years was a merchant and civic leader here. He was the owner of a Grocery store, a drug store and later sold real estate. In 1925 he moved to Amarillo after becoming interested in the oil business and made his home there since that time. Pallbearers for the funeral were Ted Ferguson, Jim Jenkins, Dr. J.B. Landers, Ode Caraway, Joe Goldston and T.F. Connally. Besides those already named, Mr. Bryan is survived by his wife, and a son, Dr. Harry C. Bryan of Colorado Springs; four daughters, Mrs. Ed Bentley of Lakeland, Fla., Mrs. Holly Guiberson of Dallas, Mrs. Floyd Keener of Vernon and Mrs. Glenn Casey of Amarillo. Burial was in the Citizens Cemetery in Clarendon.
