Bio

Edgar resident Elias W. Timmerman, 82, died Thursday, Feb. 19, 2004, at Rose Brook Care Center in Edgar. Services were held Monday at Butler- Volland Funeral Home chapel in Hastings with the Rev. Harold Stromer officiating. Burial was in Blue Valley Cemetery at Ayr. ***** Mr. Timmerman was born April 1, 1921, to John and Sarah (Clark) Timmerman in O'Neill. On Dec. 15, 1941, he married Della Hansen in Neligh. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II from 1944-46. He farmed, worked construction and was a civil service ordinance man for 37 years. He moved from Hastings to Oklahoma, to Lincoln, to Ruskin and later to Fairfield. His wife died Oct. 18, 2002. He was a past member of Disabled American Veterans in Hastings. Survivors are one son, Alvin of Tecumseh; three brothers, Dick and Oscar, both of Fairfield, and Bennie of Hastings; eight grand- children; and one great-grand- child. He was preceded in death by one son, one daughter, two brothers and two sisters.
