Services for Nora Isabelle Nissen, 91, were scheduled for Sept. 11 at 11 a.m. at the United Methodist Church in Stanton with the Rev, Earle Miller officiating, Burial is in the Stanton Cemetery under the direction of the Schulz-Vogel-Johnson Mortuary. Mr. Nissen died Sunday, Sept. 5, 1996 at the Stanton Nursing Home. She was born March 5, 1905 in Pilger the daughter of Stacy and Margaret (Taylor) Nelson. She attended Pilger Public Schools. She married William Nissen Sept. 19, 1923 in Pilger. They spent most of their lives in Stanton County. During her membership in the VFW Auxiliary's hospital committee she made many lap quilts. She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Stanton and the United Methodist Women Society. In 1975 she received the Aksarben Good Neighbor Award. Survivors include three daughters, Darlene Kumm and Lois Bristow both of Stanton and Betty Koehlmoos of Pilger, three sons and spouses Lyle and Mary Nissen of Garden Grove Calif., Stacy and Penny Nissen of Oxnard Calif. and Ivan and Carla Rae Nissen of Millard, 20 grandchildren. 11 great-grandchildren 12 great-great-grandchildren, three sisters. Jennie DePeel of Neligh, Margaret Ulrich of Sac City, Iowa and Pearl Smith of Sandy Utah, and three brothers. Delbert Nelson of Phoenix. Ariz., Eddie Nelson of Cherokee. Iowa and Russell Nelson of Winston. Ore. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband in 1965, one son. one granddaughter, one grandson, one sister, six brothers and five sons-in-law. Pallbearers are Jim Mandl. Dennis Poeschl, Ron Colsden, Tony Craig. Chris Wiese and Dwayne Boyd.
