The Hooper Sentinel April 8, 1948 Mrs. Susie May Taken by Death Mrs. Susie May, longtime resident of the Hooper community, died early last Thursday morning at the home of her daughter, Mrs. E. J. Lammers. She had been in ill health for some time, and members of her family were called to her bedside. The funeral service was held Saturday afternoon in the First Methodist church, following brief rites at the Wollmer & Warne funeral home. Rev. Mertie Clute officiated. The pallbearers were Roy Bott, Clarence Otteman, J. A. Strese, Charles Hiveley, Lloyd Rebbe and Fred Ott. Soloist was Ford Dickerson accompanied by Mrs. Dickerson. Interment was in the Hooper cemetery. Mrs. May, the former Susie Nelson, was born Aug. 7, 1872, and was married on February 15, 1897 to Lennie L. May at Stanton. She was a lifelong member of the Methodist church and was active in the Ladies Aid. Surviving are eight children, Earl, Mrs. Lammers, and Robert all of Hooper, Ervin of Fremont, Mrs. Carl Lindstrom of Omaha, Mrs. Chris Holstein of Blair, Charles of Ontario, Ore., and Archie L. May of Plankington, S. D.; 24 grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. Other survivors are her mother, Mrs. Nelson of Ames; two sisters, Mrs. Charles L. Sampson of Hooper, and Mrs. Harvey Brown of Fremont; and four brothers, Frank of Hooper, George and Stacey of Wonder, Ore., and W. R.
