Minnie Ann (Sich) Hosek, 90, of Ord died Thursday, June 10, 2010, at the Community Memorial Nursing Center in Burwell. Minnie was born Sept. 2, 1919, south of Burwell to James Sr. and Rosie (Masin) Sich. On April 22, 1941, she was united in marriage to Joseph William Hosek at the Geranium Catholic Church west of Ord. He preceded her in death on May 29, 2010. She leaves sons and daughters-in-law, Richard and Sandy Hosek of Lincoln and Ronald and Diane Hosek of Carmel, Ind.; daughter and son-in-law, Sandra and Mark Sapp of Hickman; and sister and brother-in-law, Lorraine and Keith Richards; grandchildren, Michael (Jessica), Jeremy (Renee) and Mark (Janna) Hosek, Kristina (Noah) Jacobson, Stacy (J.D.) Graff, Anne, Jennifer and Ryan Hosek, and Paige and Lucas Sapp; seven great-grandchildren; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Adolph and Dorothy Hosek of Lincoln; sisters-in-law, Kathy Hosek, Marcy Hosek, Dorothy Barr and Etta Mae Pesha; nieces, nephews and a host of friends and relatives. Minnie was raised on the family farm south of Burwell and had attended rural schools. The family later moved to a farm west of Ord in the Geranium area. Minnie and Joe farmed in the Geranium Township of Valley County and then returned to Joe's family's farmstead northeast of Arcadia. Joe and Minnie lived on the farm until moving into Ord where they have resided for the past 17 years. Minnie was a member of the Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church. She enjoyed gardening, baking. She was a faithful viewer of the Mother Angelica nightly rosary. Minnie was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was also preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Lumir, Leonard, Robert and Jimmy Sich. Published in The Grand Island Independent on 6/12/2010
