Joseph William Hosek, 99 of Ord died Saturday, May 29, 2010, at Valley County Health System Hospital in Ord. Mr. Hosek was born Aug. 22, 1910, in Valley County near Arcadia to Frank Joseph and Frances Anna (Babka) Hosek. On April 22, 1941, he married Minnie Ann Sich at the Geranium Catholic Church west of Ord. He leaves his wife; sons and daughters-in-law, Richard and Sandy Hosek of Lincoln and Ronald and Diane Hosek of Carmel, Ind.; daughter and son-in-law, Sandra and Mark Sapp of Hickman; brother and sister-in-law, Adolph and Dorothy Hosek of Lincoln; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Lorraine and Keith Richards; sisters-in-law, Kathy Hosek, Marcy Hosek, Dorothy Barr and Etta Mae Pesha; grandchildren, Michael (Jessica), Jeremy (Renee) and Mark (Janna) Hosek, Kristina (Noah) Jacobson, Stacy (J.D.) Graff, Anne, Jennifer and Ryan Hosek, and Paige and Lucas Sapp; seven great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews and a host of friends and relatives. Joe was raised on the family farm northeast of Arcadia and attended school at Old Yale Country School. He farmed in the Geranium Township of Valley County and then returned to his family's farmstead northeast of Arcadia. Joe and Minnie lived on the farm until moving into Ord, where they have resided for the past 17 years. Joe was a member of the Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed hunting, gardening, building bird houses, listening to polka music and watching boxing on TV. He was a faithful viewer of the Mother Angelica nightly rosary. He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Anna Bonne, Emma Blaha, Lydia Kovarik; and brothers, Edward and Alfred Hosek. Published in The Grand Island Independent on 6/1/2010
