Mrs. Rhoda Booth daughter of Rebecca and James Nelson born at Honesdale, Wayne County Pennsylvania, July 24, 1852, and died at her home in Palo, Iowa on August 5, 1933. At the age of 13 she came with her parents to Iowa and on November 17, 1869 at the age of seventeen, was united in marriage to Hiram I Booth, who preceded her in death sixteen years ago. To this union were born eleven children. Mrs. Carrie Miller, Mrs. Abbie Rawson, Mrs. Dawn Graham, Mrs. Beritha Scott, Ester Booth, Isaiah Booth, Harvey Booth, Mrs, Vera Carmen, and one son who died in infancy. Besides the infant son, four daughters preceded her in death. (Dawn, Esther, Julia & Phoebe) Mrs. Booth has been a faithful adherent of the Adventist faith since 1875, and as a loving mother, devoted to her Savior, she brought up her family to love God's word and to obey His will. With others of the Dorcas society of which she was a member, she planned to read her Bible through this year, and until her recent illness she was found reading its chapters daily. It is comforting to know that she sleeps in Jesus waiting the call of the Lifegiver on the glad resurrection morning. The funeral services were conducted by the Minister, W. H. Lyon of Cedar Rapids, in the Lewis Bottom church Monday at 2 p.m. Burial was in the Pleasant View cemetery.
