The Hooper Sentinel April 24, 1924 H. Gregory Nelson Last week we gave mention of the sudden death at noon last Wednesday of H. G. Nelson following a stroke of apoplexy that overtook him at 7:30 that morning. The funeral services for his highly respected resident of this place were held Friday afternoon, with short services first at the late home and then at the Methodist Church, the pastor, Rev. R. D. Winker, conducting them. Interment was made in the Hooper cemetery. Harrison Gregory Nelson was born July 19, 1848, in Lebanan Township, Wayne County, Penna., and died on Aplri 16, 1924, having thus attained the age of 75 years, 8 months, and 27 days. On September 12, 1874, he was married to Miss Lucinda Pitman in Colfax county, Nebr., to which place he had come in 1872. He came to Hooper in the fall of 1880, and with his brother, George, engaged in the livery business for several years, later taking up farming and dairying, giving up the latter and engaging solely in farm work. For thirty years he had engaged in the tilling of the soil, a greater part of the time in the place which was his last home. He was a kind father to his children, a faithful compaion to his now bereaved wife and a good neighbor and friend and a man who commanded the highest esteem of all his acquaintances. He was the father of five children, two of whom preceded him in death, leaving to mourn his passing, Mrs. Paul Rabbas, Oliver and Charles, all of this place. He is also survived by two brothers, J. Edgar and George, of Hooper, and one sister, Mrs. Rhoda Booth, of Palo, Iowa, and two grandchildren.
