Carroll Gilchrest HEDLEY - Carroll "Red" Gilchrest, 60, died Sunday, Sept. 13, 1998. Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Memphis Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Michael Gilchrest officiating. Burial will be in Hedley Cemetery. Mr. Gilchrest was born in Memphis. He graduated from Hedley High School in 1957. From 1960 to 1963 he served in the Army. He was in the sprinkler fitter business in the Houston area until retiring in 1993. When he returned to Hedley, he worked for the county. He married Ellen Page in 1956 at Hedley. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Melinda Thomas of Vernon; a brother, Ernest Gilchrest of Pasadena, Texas; and a sister, Betty Boyd of Shallowater. The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.
