The Wellington Leader June 25, 1998 Mary Lee Blasingame Ingram, age 96, died Thursday, June 18, 1998 in Wellington. She was born May 15, 1902 in Tyler to General Lee and Lena Hays Blasingame. Her mother had immigrated from Birmingham, England when she was 9 years old. Her mother's father, George Hays, was one of the founders of Tyler. He surveyed the original townsite that Tyler was built on and was its first sheriff. He also taught in the schools. Mrs. Ingram came with her family to Collingsworth County in 1915, a three week trip west in a covered wagon. She married John Ingram on August 10, 1919 in Wellington. He died in 1964. Mrs. Ingram owned and operated a fabric and ready to wear shop in Wellington for 16 years. She retired at age 85 but was still active making fancy baby quilts and with the wrapping of gifts for the public. She was a member of the First Baptist Church where she was a member of the intercessory prayer group and an active supporter of the Larry Jones "Feed the Children" ministry. She was preceded in death also by a son, J. C. Ingram in 1978. Survivors include two sons, W. S. Ingram of Friona and Clyde Ingram of Wellington; three sisters, Emma Tate of Panhandle; Lena Caison of Fort Worth and Daisy Owens of Hollis, OK; Ten grandchildren, four stepgrandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; three step great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.
