Bio
The funeral for Selma Buchta, 90, of Leeds was held Fri. at 10:30 a.m. at the Leeds Lutheran Church. Interment was in Our Savior's Lutheran Cemetery, Harlow. She died Oct. 26, 1999 at the Good Samaritan Center in Devils Lake. Rev. Richard Budd officiated. The Nelson Funeral Home of Leeds was in charge of arrangements. Selma Bertina Buchta was born Aug. 19, 1909 at Heimdal to Severt & Bertha Ramsfield Solheim. She was raised in the Heimdal area & attended school there. She married Raymond Buchta Dec. 18, 1934 at Minnewaukan. They farmed near Harlow & moved into Harlow in 1950. They moved to Leeds in June 1986 & he died Dec. 8, 1986. She entered the Good Samaritan Center in Devils Lake Sept. 16, 1999. She was a 60-year member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Harlow & its ladies aid. She served as a Sunday school teacher. She was also a member of the Harlow Homemakers & the Leeds 55 Club. Survivors include 2 sons & daughters-in-law, Duane & Fern Buchta & Donnie & Mary Ann Buchta, all of Leeds; a daughter, Eileen Fevig of Moorhead, Minn.; 9 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; a brother, John Solheim of Tacoma, Wash.; & 2 sisters, Hilda Georgeson of Heimdal & Anna Haakanson of Fargo. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a daughter, Diane Sauter; & 6 brothers.
