Benson County Farmers Press, May 23, 2001, page 14. The funeral for Anna Hakanson, 89, of Maddock was held Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. at the Klara Lutheran Church, rural Heimdal. Interment was in the church cemetery. She died May 17, 2001 at the Heart of America Medical Center in Rugby. Pastor Richard Budd officiated. Music was provided by organist Donna Mills & soloist Arlyss Bergrud. Casket bearers were Glenn Davidson, Sigvart Fossen, Galen Hakanson, Odell Hakanson, Marvin Norell & Russel Ramsfield. The Nelson Funeral Home of Maddock was in charge of arrangements. Anna Solheim was born Oct. 23, 1911 near Manfred to Severt & Bertha Ramsfield Solheim. She was raised & educated near Manfred. Following her education she worked at home until her marriage to Walter Hakanson on Dec. 29, 1934 at Minnewaukan. The couple lived & farmed in Arne Township of Benson County near Maddock. He died July 15, 1957. In the fall of 1957 she moved to Fargo & worked in the housekeeping department of St. Luke's Hospital until retiring in 1975. In the fall of 2000, she moved to the Maddock Memorial Home. She was a member of Elam Lutheran Church & its WELCA in Fargo. She had been an active member of Klara Lutheran Church & the Arne Homemakers Club while living near Maddock. Survivors include 2 sons & daughters-in-law, Owen & Elaine Hakanson of Mesa, Ariz. & Lorace & Gloria Hakanson of West Fargo; a daughter & son-in-law, Arlys & Alden Pederson of Warren, Minn.; 9 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; a sister, Hilda Georgeson of Heimdal; & a brother, John Solheim of Spanaway, Wash. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; 6 brothers, Sam, Oscar, Seivert, Clarence, Helmer & Art Solheim; & a sister, Selma Buchta. ------ Daughter of Severt Johan Sjursen Solheim and Bertha Karina Knutson Ramsfield.
