James Strawther, 92, of Trout Creek died Tuesday, Jan. 26, 2010 in Lumberton. James loved the Lord and was ordained as a deacon at Trout Creek Baptist church in 1954. He was a great inspiration to the pastor, members and everyone that came in contact with him. He was a great friend and will be missed by everyone that knew him. Obituary from the Beaumont Enterprise. James O. Strawther, 92, passed from this life on Tuesday, January 26, 2010. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 30, at Trout Creek Baptist Church with burial at Trout Creek Cemetery under the direction of Adams EE Stringer Funeral Home in Kirbyville. Visitation will be from 6:00 - 9:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Born Sept. 24, 1917 in Buna to Thomas Isaac and Mary Etta Franklin Strawther. He lived in the Kirbyville area most of his life and was a retired Field Supervisor for Temple-Inland. He was a World War II U.S. Navy Veteran, serving in the South Pacific on the USS England. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Sarah Anne Elliott Strawther of Kirbyville; sons, Jim Strawther and wife Barbara of Lumberton; Jack Strawther of Bedford; and Tom Strawther and wife Patti of Houston; sisters, Epsie Bean of Kirbyville; Bernice Berry of Trout Creek; and Agnes Long of Kentucky; 7 grandchildren, Jamie & Lara Strawther; Frank & Kristin Strawther; Will & Carolyn Strawther; Jacky Lee & Alice Strawther; Lauren Anne & Bo Fontana; Charles H. & Melissa French; and Paul & Holly Strawther; and 5 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by 3 brothers, Watt, Gene and Jesse Strawther; and 1 sister, Emily Strawther Holmes .
