Obituary - Kirbyville Banner: Funeral service for Jess Edward Strawther, 62, of Call was held at 2 pm Monday, February 28 at the Church of Christ in Kirbyville with burial in Trout Creek Cemetery under the direction of Causey's E.E. Stringer Funeral Home. He died Saturday at M.D. Anderson Hospital in Houston after an illness. A native and lifelong resident of Call, he was a farmer. He is survived by his wife, Opal Lorraine Landrum Strawther of Call, a daughter, Karen Causey of Kirbyville, two sons, Cliff Strawther of Nederland, and Don Strawther of Silsbee, two brothers, James Strawther and Gene Strawther, both of Call, and Watt W. (Correction: William Watt) Strawther, deceased; four sisters, Bernice Berry, Emily Holmes and Agnes Russell, all of Call, and Epsie Bean of Kirbyville, and six grandchildren, Sarah Blanche Strawther and Bret Lane Strawther, both of Silsbee, Gretchin Kay Strawther and Holly Ann Strawther, both of Groves, Sean Clifton Strawther of Nederland, and Brandi Latisha Cause of Kirbyville. Serving as pallbearers were nephews Glenn Y'Barbo, Garry Y'Barbo, Billy Y'Barbo, Tom Strawther, Jack Strawther, Jimmy Strawther, Tommy Bean, and Bill Strawther. Honorary pallbearers were Floyd Bean Jr., Paul Y'Barbo, Billy Roy Smith, Royce Lee Davidson, Chris Simmons, Joby Simmons, Preston Simmons, David Landrum, Marty Landrum, Isaac Strawther, and Danny Long.
