Bio
Lillian Wright Hargis, 102 years 5 months and 29 days of age, of Somerset, Kentucky, departed this life on Monday, January 9th, 2017. Lillian was born Goodwater community of Pulaski County, Kentucky on July 11th, 1914, daughter of the late John Wesley and Sarah Isabelle Meece Wright. Lillian was saved and baptized at a young age. She was a member of Immanual Baptist Church, where she was a faithful member and attended services as long as her health permitted. She was a homemaker who enjoyed quilting, gardening, and painting. Lillian was survived by one son, Ellis Wayne (and Karen) Hargis of Ingle, Kentucky; four daughters, Elaine Hargis Simpson of Burgin, Kentucky, and Juanita Wesley, Elizabeth Hansford, and Judy (and Doug) Silvers, all of Somerset, Kentucky; a daughter-in-law, Lola Hargis of Nancy, Kentucky; eleven grandchildren, Jerry Simpson, Terry Hargis, Sherry Pierce, Jerold Wesley, Michael Wesley, Darien Hargis, Beth Prater, Dexter Silvers, Scott Hansford, Travis Hansford, and Leslie Cummins; eleven great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and a host of other family and friends who mourn her passing. She was preceded in death by her parents, John Wesley Wright, who departed this life on November 17th, 1946 and Sarah Isabelle Wright, who departed this life on October 7th, 1972 at the age of 100 years 11 months and 21 days; her husband of fifty-one years, Alonzo Hargis, whom she married on August 2nd, 1930, and who departed this life on April 13th, 1982; one son, Tassel A. Hargis; an infant daughter, Yvonne Hargis; four brothers, Vester Wright, Lee Wright, Ped Wright, and Steven Wright; five sisters, Mary Langford, Estelle Edwards, Carly Snell, Beulah Wright, and Elva Wright; and three son-in-laws, Homer Wesley, Gary Hansford, and Ray Simpson. Visitations were held from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 12th, 2017 at the Lake Cumberland Funeral Home in Somerset, Kentucky. Funeral services were held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 12th, 2017 in the Chapel of the Lake Cumberland Funeral Home with Rev. Don Jones officiating. Her pallbearers were her grandchildren. Burial followed in the Whetstone Cemetery in Somerset, Kentucky. THIS IS A TRIBUTE IN MEMORY OF LILLIAN, If you could see me now you wouldn't shed a tear, Though you may not understand why I'm no longer there. Remember my spirit, that is the real me because I'm still very much alive, I've just been set free. Oh, if you could only see! I have held our Father's face and I've touched my Savior's hand. All of Heaven's angels rejoiced as I entered the promised land. Beyond the gates of pearl I've walked on the golden streets. I've touched the walls of jasper and dipped my foot in the crystal sea. The beauty is beyond words and nothing could compare, I've even seen our Lords mansion and someday I'll meet you there. Let Jesus be your guide because "His Word" will show you the way. So please don't cry because we will meet again someday.
