Bio
Oscar Lee Wright, 74, Somerset, died Tuesday at the Somerset City Hospital after an illness of three months. The son of Isabelle Meece Wright and John W. Wright, he was born at Mt. Victory on October 8, 1898. He was married to the former Geneva Roark in 1924, who preceded him in death in 1928. Survivors include his second wife, the former Orpha Rogers of Louisville, whom he married in 1935; and his present wife, Bertie Ratliff Wright, whom he married April 3, 1971 in Somerset. Other survivors include his children, L.V. Wright and Ronald Wright, both of Lebanon, Indiana, Verne Wright of Mt. Victory, Donald Wright of Los Angeles, California, Hazel Flanagan, Hawaii, Sue Curtis of Norfolk, Virginia, Carolyn Turner, Columbia, South Carolina, and Delatha Wright of Nashville. Surviving stepchildren include James Whitaker of Dry Ridge, Kentucky, Stan Whitaker of Louisville, Mrs. Dorothy McWilliams of Aurora, Illinois, Mrs. Vicki Vaught of Cincinnati, and Mrs. Jean Hall of Columbus, Georgia. A brother, Vester Wright of Somerset; two sisters, Lillian Hargis of Somerset and Estel Edwards of Los Angeles, California; 13 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild also survive. He was a member of the Somerset First Christian Church, and was retired. Funeral services will be Friday at the chapel of the Somerset Undertaking Company with the Rev. L.D. Fisher officiating. Burial will be in the Whetstone Cemetery. Friends may call after noon Thursday. Somerset Undertaking Company is in charge of arrangements.
