Mary Bertha Roessler Podsednik, 84, passed away Saturday, Jan. 9, 2010, surrounded by her children and her grandchildren, James and wife, Melissa Hart, and Trina White. Service: Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Peter the Apostle Roman Catholic Church, 1201 S. Cherry Lane, White Settlement. Interment: Greenwood Memorial Park. Rosary: 6 p.m. Tuesday in Greenwood Garden Chapel. Visitation: 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. immediately following rosary. Pallbearers: James Hart, Chris McLellan, Adam Hopkins, Tommy Podsednik, Billie Roessler and Jamie John Podsednik. Mary was born in Westphalia to John and Clara Roessler on Aug. 28, 1925. She was raised in the small rural town of Tours on a farm, along with her three brothers and two sisters. After graduating from West High School, Mary married Ervin John Podsednik. She and Ervin farmed in Abbott before moving to Fort Worth in 1950 to work at Consolidated Vultee. Mary worked 42 years for Convair (and later General Dynamics) before retiring in 1992. Mary and Ervin "Tata" had four children, Catherine Marie, Augie John, Michael Joseph and Charlotte Marie, with two adopted children, David Wayne and Patrick Daniel. Mary, lovingly called "Mom" by her family, was faithful to her church, her family, and all her friends whom she helped unselfishly. Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Ervin John Podsednik; sisters, Odillie Anne Gerik and Annie Schroeder; and parents, John and Clara Roessler. Survivors: Children, Catherine Marie Hart and husband, James A. Hart, Augie J. Podsednik and wife, Judy, Michael J. Podsednik and wife, Cynthia, and Charlotte M. Podsednik; adopted children, David Wayne Podsednik and Patrick Daniel Podsednik; grandchildren, James William Hart, Katrina Gail White, Karen Renae Podsednik, Mary Catherine Hart McLellan, Jamie John Podsednik and Emily Hopkins; seven great-grandchildren; brothers, Henry Roessler and wife, Erma, of Tours, Herman Roessler and wife, Stacie, of Waco, John Roessler and wife, Alma Lena, of Tours; brother-in-law, Ray Gerik of Temple; sister-in-law, Laura Podsednik of Fort Worth; many nieces and nephews; and many, many friends.
