Odilie Anne (Roessler) Gerik, age 81, of Temple, formerly of West, passed away late Monday morning, August 18, 2008 at Scott and White Hospital in Temple. A rosary will be recited and Mass of Christian Burial celebrated 10:00 a.m. Thursday at St. Mary's Catholic Church in West, with Rev. Brian Eilers as celebrant. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery. Mrs. Gerik will lie-in-state Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. Mrs. Gerik was born August 14, 1927 in Westphalia, the daughter of John and Clara (Straten) Roessler. She graduated from West High School and attended 4-C Business College. Anne was a civil service budget analyst working for the U.S. Naval Base in Corpus Christi, Fort Hood, and John Connally Air Force Base in Waco for a total of 27 years before retiring in 1982. She also sold real estate for Century 21 in Killeen and insurance for the American National Life Ins. Co. in Temple for 10 years. She enjoyed crocheting, quilting, sewing, gardening, canning, reading, working crossword puzzles, hunting, and she especially loved to cook for her family. She was a faithful member of St. Luke's Catholic Church in Temple. She is preceded in death by her parents; and one sister, Annie Schroeder. Survivors include her beloved husband of 59 years, Raymond Gerik of Temple; two sons, Dennis Gerik and wife Jina of Morgan's Point and Darrell Gerik and wife Susan of San Antonio; two daughters, Donna Rhea and husband Ron of Liberty Hill and Darlene Morris and husband Michael of Hewitt; three brothers, Henry Roessler and wife Irma of Tours and Johnnie Roessler and wife Alma Lena, all of Tours, and Herman Roessler and wife Stacy of Woodway; one sister, Mary Podsednik of Ft. Worth; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. Pallbearers are Stephen Roessler, Tommy Roessler, Mark Roessler, Billy Roessler, David Roessler, Anthony Schenk, Andres Mancilla, Christopher Gerik, Herman Gene Roessler, and Zane Morris. Memorials may be made to Holy Trinity Catholic High School in Temple.
