(Published in Amarillo Online Newspapers 2 August 1998) SHAMROCK - Mary Bula Martindale Hiett, 95, died Thursday, July 30, 1998. Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday in First Baptist Church with Norman Jones, pastor of Primitive Baptist Church in Snyder, Okla., officiating. Burial will be in Dozier Cemetery by Wright Funeral Directors. Mrs. Hiett was born in Sommerville County and moved to Shamrock in a covered wagon in 1919 with her family. She worked in the Shamrock community until her retirement at age 82. She had been a member of the Lone Mound Primitive Baptist Church since 1928. She married George "Jack" Hiett in 1920 at Dozier. Survivors include two sons, J.B. Hiett of Shamrock and Bill Hiett of Tulia; a daughter, Ruby Smith of Clovis, N.M.; two brothers, Buck Martindale of Dozier and Bart Martindale of Shamrock; 10 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
