An Obituary from "Gatesville Messenger & Star Forum," Friday, August 8, 1958: Funeral services for W. A. Whisenhunt, 75, were held Saturday afternoon at Scott's Funeral Home. Rev. G. L. Derrick officiated, and burial was in the Restland Cemetery. Pallbearers were Otha Rogers, Elzie Timmons, Ernest Timmons, Robert Whisenhunt, Rupert Whisenhunt and Elmer Watts. Mr. Whisenhunt, cemetery caretaker who had been a resident of the Gatesville area since 1900, died Thursday afternoon in the Gatesville hospital. He was a native of DeQueen, Ark., and was a member of the Church of Christ. He was married Aug. 12, 1903, to Miss Lela Timmons. She survives him. Also surviving are one son, James E. Whisenhunt of Gatesville; three daughters, Mrs. Willie Hoppe Jr., Mrs. C. C. Gilchrest and Mrs. Alvin D. Franks, all of Gatesville; four sisters, Mrs. M. M. Hughes of Fort Worth, Mrs. O. C. Choat of McGregor, Mrs. Ed Moody of Monahans and Mrs. Tom Campbell of Gatesville; ten grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
