The Bonham Daily Favorite, Bonham, Texas, Thursday, July 5, 1951, Page 8 Paris Resident Dies in Bonham Hospital July 4 Ruel L. Whisenhunt, state highway department employee from Paris, died in M&S Hospital, Bonham, late Wednesday of a heart attack. Whisenhunt, with members of his family and friends, was spending the July 4 holiday at Lake Crockett when he suffered a heart attack and was rushed to the hospital at Bonham. Whisenhunt, 47, of 403 14th NE, died Wednesday afternoon after a heart injury while in swimming near Bonham. The attending physician in the Bonham hospital where he was taken, said a heart muscle had broken evidently when he made a dive. He was apparently resting well after admittance to the hospital, but died suddenly, about 2 p.m. Mr. Whisenhunt was a parts salesman for Jesse Thrasher Auto Supply Store here. The funeral, Friday at 10 a.m., will be held at Fry and Gibbs Funeral Home by the Rev. L. Morton Evans of East Paris Baptist Church. Interment will be made in Evergreen cemetery. Surviving are Mrs. Whisenhunt, the former Miss Leona Jones; a daughter, Leta; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. W. A. Whisenhunt; a brother and three sisters, Elvis Whisenhunt, Mrs. Willie Hoppe, Mrs. C. C. Gilchrest and Mrs. A. D. Franks, all of Gatesville. He was born in Coryell County, April 27, 1904, and was married Aug. 30, 1930, in Dublin. He and his wife came here from Nacogdoches in 1944. He had been employed seven years by Southern Ice Company, before joining the Thrasher concern. He was a member of East Paris Baptist Church.
