An Obituary from "Gatesville Messenger & Star Forum", Thursday, August 4, 1983: Services for Perry Swift Fairchild Sr., 80, of Gatesville were held at 11 a.m. Monday at the Mountain Baptist Church. Rev. E. A. Hendricks officiated, and burial was in Restland Cemetery with Scott's in charge. Mr. Fairchild, a retired rancher-stockman, died Saturday in the local hospital. Son of the late Erastus and Lou Ann Fairchild, he was born April 21, 1903, in Harper and was reared there. He married the former Cleo Arnold in Brady on Dec. 10, 1926. They first resided in Mason but lived in the Belton-Lampasas area most of their married life. They moved to Gatesville in 1979. Mr. Fairchild was a member of the board of deacons of the Mountain Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife; two sons, Richard Fairchild of Eddy and Perry Fairchild Jr. of Temple; two daughters, Mrs. Don Blanchard of Gatesville and Mrs. A. R. Neusda of Alexandria, Va.; 13 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Pallbearers for Mr. Fairchild's funeral were Dwaine Blanchard, Perry Fairchild 111, Jay Bowman, Bill Jack Blanchard, Randy Blanchard and Chris Blanchard.
