SHINER - Charlie Patek, age 90, passed away Friday, September 13, 2013. He was born August 10, 1923 in Shiner to Charles James Patek, Sr. and Elizabeth Veit Patek. He was a butcher and worked at Patek's Grocery and Market for 37 years. He was a veteran and belonged to the Shiner DAV, Shiner VFW and American Legion, KJT, Shiner Business Men's Association and Knights of Columbus. Preceded in death by parents, infant son, Joseph Patek; brothers, Victor and Gus Patek; sister, Helen Matula; great-grandson, Clayton Patek and son-in-law, Bill Petru. Burial at Shiner Catholic Cemetery. Arrangements by Thiele-Cooper Funeral Home, 361-293-5656.
