Vernon Dee Buchanan, age 87, of Roosevelt, passed away Nov. 25, 2009, at his home. He was born Dec. 21, 1921, in Teasdale, Utah, to George Franklin and Louisa Jane Allen Buchanan. He married Margie Lou Robb on Sept. 14, 1960, in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Vernon was a very hard worker and co-owned the Buchanan Feed Store for over 50 years. Through the business he contributed much to the community, church groups, and schools. The Boy Scouts of America was a big part of his life from being a leader at the district level to providing his time and the Harvest Halo Pancakes at the annual Scout Breakfast. He was active in the LDS Church serving in many callings, often as a clerk. He went to the Western States Mission working mostly in the Chicago area. He was an ordinance worker in the Vernal LDS Temple for nine years. Vernon had a great sense of humor and loved to tease and play jokes on his family. In his spare time he enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping, gardening, playing sports in his younger days, and card games. His greatest love was his family and spending as much time with them as possible. He is survived by his wife, Margie, children, Paula Dee (Daniel) Womack, both of Roosevelt; John F. (Rachel) Buchanan, Syracuse; Robert (Tamera) Buchanan, Eagle Mountain; grandchildren, Dana, Jesse, Devin, Jorlin, Zachary, Kylie, Kortney, Kade; brothers and sisters Richard Buchanan, Midvale; Neva (Vance) Prescott, Emmett, Idaho; Hayle Buchanan, Ogden; and Bernell (Barbie) Buchanan, Midvale and numerous nephews, nieces, and other relatives.
