Bio

Lydia Buchanan Peterson Lydia Buchanan Peterson, having been born of loving and goodly parents, began her mortal life in Lyman, Utah, arriving January 8, 1916. She was the fifth of 12 children of the family of George Franklin and Louisa Jane Allen Buchanan. She grew up in Teasdale, Utah after her family moved there when she was a little girl. Her simple upbringing, her pioneer heritage, and the acceptance of significant family responsibility early in her life molded a firm personal determination for life and absolute faith in God. She was undaunted in her actions and yet continually displayed overwhelming compassion, love and charity for all. Her worldly accomplishments appear simple but her loving influence has and will affect generations. Lydia married Jay Peterson February 15, 1935. They enjoyed each other's love and companionship for 70 years. Jay's job working for the U.S. Forest Service took them all over California for 38 years. At each stop on the way Lydia worked and contributed to her community and her church. Together they raised three children, Kathy, Teri, and Tom. She loved children and her children. Her talents included quilting, tatting, knitting, and crocheting. Many of her works received county fair awards and most were made and given to others. Lydia's life and her foundation were centered on her faith, and the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served in numerous positions and assignments which cemented her devotion to her Savior, Jesus Christ. Upon Jay's retirement they moved back to Wayne County spending 30 years in Loa. Over the last years they made the transition to Midvale, Utah to be closer to family and doctors. She now joins her parents, two brothers, two sisters, and a great-grand-son, leaving behind her husband, three children, 10 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, one sister, and five brothers. We will miss her. Viewing, Sunday, July 10, 6-8 p.m. at Holladay-Cottonwood Mortuary, 4670 Highland Drive, Holladay.
