------------------------- Printed in the Houston Times Post dated March 19 1964 Mrs. J M Hood Dies at Houlka Funeral services for Mrs. J M Hood, 72, prominent Houlka woman, who died at 11:30 pm, Wednesday, March 11, at The Houston Hospital after an illness of two years, were conducted at 2 pm Friday from the Houlka First Baptist Church with the Rev. Thomas J Murphy and the Rev. Mack Rutledge of Rena Lara, Miss., officiating. Interment was in the Rose Hill Cemetery near Houlka with Houston Funeral Home in charge. Pallbearers were: Dr. John F Powell, Dr. John D Dyer, Dr. Milton Brown, Atwell Washington, James H Hardin, Dan Sims, Billy Gordon Aron, and Wallace Norman. Mrs. Hood, the former Miss Lilly Patterson, was born March 9 1892, in Calhoun County. She was the daughter of the late Dudley Russell Patterson and Jamie Taylor Patterson. She was a former school teacher, and was a member of the Eastern Star, a charter member of the Houlka Literary and Civic Club, and a member of the Houlka Baptist Church. She leaves her husband, Dr. J M Hood, Sr.; a son, Jim Hood, Jr., of Houlka; two daughters, Mrs. Tom Davis of Houston and Mrs. W G McGill, Jr., of New Albany; three brothers, E R Patterson of Jackson; George Patterson of Austin, Texas, and Charles Patterson of Sarepta; three sisters, Mrs. W R Marion and Miss Janie Sue Patterson of Houlka, and Mrs. Emma Cook of Pontotoc, and eight grandchildren. -------------------------
