Miss Clara Jares Killed in Auto Accident Near Freeport This community was shocked and saddened Wednesday to learn of the death of Miss Clara Jares, 22, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Will Jares of this city, who was killed in an automobile accident near Freeport, Texas early Wednesday when the car in which she was riding plunged off a bridge during a heavy fog. Details of the accident were not learned, however, it was disclosed that the body will arrive here by train Thursday night, funeral services to be held here at the Catholic church at 10 a.m. Friday, Rev. E. J. Polcak officiating. Interment will be at the Catholic cemetery. Mrs. Will Jares, mother of the deceased, was visiting a daughter at Refugio when informed of the tragedy. Miss Jares was born in West and had lived here continuously until after she finished the local high school and entered the Providence sanitarium at Waco where she studied to become a nurse. For the past several months she had been employed in south Texas. Deceased is a graduate of the 1937 class of West High School. While at the local high school, she served as pep squad leader for two years and took an active part in all class and school activities. Classes will be dismissed at the High School Friday morning in order that the student body may attend funeral services. Surviving are the parents; two sisters, Miss Mary Frances Jares of this city and Mrs. Joe Polasek, Jr., of Refugio.
