Joseph Veselka, age 72, of Route 2 West, passed away early Wednesday morning, June 28, 1989 at the Olin E. Teague Veterans Administration Hospital in Temple. Mr. Veselka was born September 1, 1916 in McLennan County, near West, the son of John and Johanna Veselka. He married Willie Mae Pavelka in Tours on September 5, 1945. He was a farmer and a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption in West. Mr. Veselka served his country with the United States Army and Air Force during World War II. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #4819 in West. He is survived by his wife, Willie Mae Veselka of Route 2, West; two sons, Joseph W. Veselka of Penelope and Richard Veselka of Abbott; three daughters, Mrs. Malcolm (Doris) Haberl of Elm Mott, Mrs. Fred (Barbara) Mechell of Route 2, West, and Mrs. Steven (Linda) Sulak of Hillsboro; two sisters, Mary Veselka and Jannie Nors, both of West; twelve grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. A rosary was recited at 7 p.m. Thursday at Aderhold Funeral Home Chapel by Msgr. George Doskocil. Mass of Christian burial was celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday at St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption in West with Rev. Isidore Rozycki as celebrant. Military graveside rites followed at St. Mary's Cemetery near West. Pallbearers were Dero Hurst, Eldon Pavelka, Frank Polansky, Bill Skerik, Kerry McClannahan and Johnny Mynar.
