Bio

Willie Mae Veselka, 83, of West passed away Saturday, August 7, 2004, at her residence. She was born November 26, 1920, daughter of the late Willie and Vlasta Pavelka. She graduated from Riesel High School in 1939. She married Joseph Veselka September 5, 1945, in Tours, and he preceded her in death June 28, 1989. She was a homemaker and worked with her husband on their farm. During the war, she also worked at James Connally Air Force Base. She enjoyed quilting, baking, playing the organ and violin, gardening and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a member of SPJST Lodge #6. She was preceded in death by one brother, Edwin Pavelka; and two sisters-in-law, Leona Pavelka and Evelyn Pavelka. Survivors include: two sons, Joseph W. Veselka and wife, Janice, of Penelope and Richard Veselka and wife, Paula, of Abbott; three daughters, Doris Haberl and husband, Malcolm, of Elm Mott, Barbara Mechell and husband, Fred, of West and Linda Sulak and husband, Steven, of Hillsboro; three brothers, Charles Pavelka and wife, Ruby, of Elk, Eldon Pavelka and wife, Dorothea, and Robert Pavelka and friend, Willie Mae Holecek, all of West; one special cousin who was like a sister, Helen Hurst and husband, D. M., of West; 17 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and other relatives. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, August 10, 2004, at Aderhold Funeral Home Chapel in West with Rev. Ed Karasek officiating. Burial was at St. Mary's Cemetery.
