John Urbis first married Mary Blahuta on November 18, 1884 in Fayette County, Texas. She died and he next married Anna (nee Cernosek) Drozd on August 31, 1903 in Fayette County, Texas. Anna's maiden name is Cernosek. She was previously married to John Drozd. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ John Urbis to be Buried at Penelope John Urbis, 86, died at 3 p.m. Tuesday at Mineral Wells. His home was at Penelope. Funeral services will be held at 9 a.m. today, Friday, at the Catholic Church at Penelope, Father John Konkiel officiating, assisted by Father Charles W. Smid. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery. Survivors include six sons, Joe Urbis of West, Frank Urbis of Taylor, John Urbis of Waco, Lewis and Lyde Urbis of Penelope, Alfred Urbis of Los Angeles; three step-sons, John Drozd of El Campo, Theo Drozd and Frank Drozd of West; four daughters, Mrs. Anna Beseda and Mrs. Mary Freasek of Penelope, Mrs. Francis Snapka of Granford, Mrs. Gurde Svoboda of California; two step-daughters, Miss Elizabeth Drozd of California, Mrs. Anna Horak of Penelope; one brother, Lewis Urbis of Dallas; two sisters, Mrs. Agnes Petter and Mrs. Sofie Sikus [Fajkus] of Praha, Texas; 25 great-grandchildren.
