Leopold Ruzicka, Sr., 81-Year-Old Pioneer, Died Suddenly Wed. Leopold Ruzicka, Sr., 81, passed away at his home in Abbott at 10:40 o'clock Wednesday morning, July 19, after an illness of 12 years. Funeral services will be held Friday morning at the residence in Abbott at 9:00 o'clock and at the Church of the Assumption in West at 9:45 o'clock with the Rev. E.J. Polcak officiating. Interment will be at the Catholic Cemetery. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Josephine Ruzicka; three sons, Leopold Ruzicka, Jr., of Abbott, Joe Ruzicka of West, Frank Ruzicka of West; four daughters, Mrs. Mary Polansky and Mrs. Bessie Smajstrla of West, and Mrs. Annie Pustejovsky and Mrs. Mollie Urbanovsky of Abbott; and nine great grandchildren. Mr. Ruzicka, son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Ruzicka, moved to this country with his wife, the former Miss Josephine Popp, and family approximately 48 years ago, settling in Flatonia where they lived for seven years before moving to this community. Until the spring of this year, they operated a farm in this community. Although in bad health for the greatest part of the past twelve years, Mr. Ruzicka was not bedridden. He became seriously ill Tuesday afternoon and died suddenly Wednesday morning.
