Piscacek Dies Following Long Illness Innocent Frank Piscacek, 79, died at his home here at 6:45 a.m. Tuesday, February 19, following a long illness. He had been in ill health for the past ten years and for the last 2 ½ years had been bedridden. Funeral services were held at 9 a.m. Thursday at the Church of the Assumption. Rev. George Doskocil officiated. Burial was in St. Marys Cemetery. Rosary was recited at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Aderhold Chapel. Mr. Piscacek was born in Fayetteville, the son of Frank and Gertrude Piscacek. He moved to Oregon with his parents, and was educated there, returning to Texas when he was 19. In 1901 he married Miss Magdeline Jurica in Praha, Texas. In 1904 they moved to West and made their home here since that time. He was a carpenter and yard man for Cameron Lumber Company until he was forced to retire due to his health. Mr. Piscacek was a church organist for 50 years, here and in south Texas. He was the organist for the Church of the Assumption for 30 years. He had belonged to the Knights of Columbus almost 40 years, and to the West Lodge for over 25 years. Surviving are his widow; two sons, Hubert Piscacek of West and I. Maurice Piscacek of Maryland; four daughters, Mrs. Benedicta Soukup, Mrs. Olga Hegar and Mrs. Marie Hegar, all of West, and Sister Avelo of New Orleans; one sister, Mrs. Emilie Vanzura of West; 14 grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Maurice Piscacek and wife of Maryland arrived at noon Monday; and Mrs. Piscaceks brother, Anton Jurica of Powderville, Montana, arrived Wednesday for the funeral services. Miss Angeline Olbrich and Miss Rosie Olbrich of Shiner also attended the funeral. The West News, West, Texas, Vol. 66, No. 42, Ed. 1 - Friday, February 22,1957
